Barak Valley Engineering College (BVEC), Karimganj established in the year 2017 is the first state government engineering college in the Barak Valley and the fifth state engineering college. The Government of Assam took the initiative to set up this engineering college in 2009 and started its full operation in 2017 under the Department of Technical Education (DTE) of Assam. It is affiliated to Gauhati University and approved by AICTE. The college currently offers Bachelor of Engineering courses in 2 disciplines viz. Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. Admissions are done through Assam CEE.

The campus is about 15 km and 22 km away from and Badarpur railway junction and Badarpur ASTC bus station respectively. The closest airport to the campus is Kumbhirgram airport Silchar.
Since the college is established in 2017, not a single batch has passed out yet. The college has an active T&P cell that is working effectively to bring in many companies during the campus drive. The goal of this college is to develop a high standard of ethics and respect through the strategic efforts of their dedicated staff. It is also involved in the research and development of students as well as individual and research projects.
The department's curriculum program includes in-depth research in electronics engineering and computer engineering science so that students are introduced to the basics, experimental solutions to physical problems, techniques, and amps, systems relevant design methods in the contemporary industrial world. The department has a class of qualified, young, dynamic, and short faculty members.
