Syamaprasad College was founded in 1962 and is affiliated with the University of Calcutta. On the land location at 5B, Rajeswar Dasgupta Road, Kolkata - 26, the college has already constructed the Annexed Building (temporary in nature). In 1998, Syamaprasad College was established its Science Department, offering B.Sc (Computer Science Hons.), B.Sc (Electronics Hons.), B.Sc (Computer Application - Major) during the day and B.Sc (Geography Hons.) on a semi-day basis in the Annexe Building. Syamaprasad College ensures a ragging-free environment on campus. Any behaviour that supports ragging is subject to punishment under UGC regulations. Admission revocation, suspension from classes, a fine of up to INR 2,50,000/-, expulsion from the dormitory, and other sanctions may be imposed.

Library: Syamaprasad College's library provides students with a selection of journals, magazines, and daily newspapers in addition to departmental literature. The library houses approximately 25,000 books. A reading room with a capacity of 20+ students is also available for pupils.
Laboratories: There are three separate computer laboratories on campus. IT Lab, Computer centre - smart classroom and browsing centre. The computer centre has 25 computers, while the smart classrooms/browsing centre has 10 high-end desktop computers and 1 laptop.
Sports: Syamaprasad College provides students with both indoor and outdoor game facilities. Every year, a huge number of students compete in football, rowing, sporting competitions, and cricket. There is also a gym on campus with all current amenities. Indoor games such as carom, table tennis, badminton, and chess are also available to students.
NSS: Syamaprasad College provides NSS, which makes a difference in the lives of students by moulding them into socially conscious and responsible citizens.
